To all,
Thanks for the input and be advised that I am bewildered by this manual
of mine. This unit was purchased in Ireland and the manual that came
with it, does not describe the procedure to change the voltages! Zip, nada,
nein info, on any power change to this unit!
I went online and pulled down a copy of the service manual for the 'field'
(Bless the VA3CR pages) and read up on that power change in the down
loaded copy.
There are two different manuals for the Field unit!
The one I pulled down contains a page 116, which describes the voltage
change, located under "Miscellaneous", as the very last page in the manual.
My manual goes to page 115 , giving instructions for power-on micro-
processor reset procedures, as the very last page in the manual. I have,
of course, added a page 116 to my funky manual!
So far, I have not found a switch in this unit as indicated in the
downloaded manual page 116, THAT I CAN SEE. It leads me to wonder
if the European specs are different than those imported to this country,
I.E. 230v only, although I would find that hard to believe. But, stranger
things have happened, as they say.
Uwe, you have a location pinned down in your unit as to where the heck
that switch is. Will you forward your info when you get the chance. No
rush but do let me know, will you?
Art, I am going to use a British socket that was shipped to me by EI7FO
which is the type of power lead that I presently have and am familiar with
but what type plug are you using for your 230v setup?
This unit is going to be used in the new home going up and will stay at
230volts for the time being, with proper voltage outlet added in the new
shack.
So a mite bit more research is due on my part, I reckon. Not a bother
though. Tomorrow I shall start going over her once again, this time, with a
good set of magnifier glasses for these tired old eyes and the service
manual.
And for the message received from "Scott and Laura on their low power
output problem"....The only thing I can think of is; Is the unit set for
Class A operation (which restricts power to less than 25 watts or so)?.
It is the brown push button switch (#21, page 24 on MY manual pictorial)
on bottom row, by the tuning dial).
Thanks Uwe and Art and Joe.
