[1000mp] 1000 DSP

Nice post Cecil and informative for the newbies. Yes the dsp on the mark V
is 10 years old and that is the reason it is unproductive. Installing the
Inrad Crystal Filters does the same job. Also beware of the FT-2000 with the
wide Roofing Filter. Even at the narrowest roofing filter of 3K it will
still cause lots of IMD in contest and dx situations. Even with their newly
defined dsp. What makes matters worse with the 2000 is the lack of slots to
put in crystal filters at the different IF's. DSP has come a long way but I
don't think Yaesu has perfected it that much that it doesn't need crystal
filters. Icom had this approach a few ago with the
Pro III. Look at the receiver specs of the Pro III and that radio is a mess.
The Icom 746 has way much better specs than the Pro III. The FT-2000 is a
great looking radio but I hope its not garbage on the inside.
