[1000mp] difference between Yaesu XF-... and YF-... filter types

Hi Uwe,
What Pete says is not really the case, but he's not really incorrect
either. Read on....
I have a couple XF-xxx filters in my Field and they're on boards. It
seems Yaesu has had a pretty sloppy naming system, because what Pete
describes can be the case or not, depending on the age of the filter and
some other, unknown to me, factors.
At some point Yaesu changed the prefix of the board mounted filters to
YF, to try and lessen the confusion. But, having said that, XF filters,
mounted on boards, that have the same numbers as the corresponding YF
numbered filters should work. I have an XF-110C in my sub-receiver that
is an 500Hz 8 pole mechanical filter and works great.
At any rate, I actually have a mixture of XF/YF filters in my Mark V
Field and I have not significant attenuation of signal strength when I
go from 2.4kHz to 250Hz. You may just have a bad filter.
