Hi,
Have a question about the average out-put power on a FT1000MP mark V Field.
Been curious ..in comparison with my previous radio a TS850sat I see some
differences in average power.
I have been fiddling with three types of microphones.
Electret.. Shows without PROC 35.50W with the PROC 45.60W.
Handheld (original mic.) without PROC. 25.40W With PROC 35..50W
Dynamic element (boom mic.) more or less the same as the handheld.
If I whistle the output shows approx 100W in all cases.
Now something else I noticed. is it normal that the mic gain shows only a
response up to the 12 hour position (without PROC.), looking at the alc I
can barely get it over the mark, max two dots.
I would expect some more response on the mic gain. (it looks is there is a
limiter involved?)
With the PROC. on I have almost no response on the mic gain and there is
only a response up to 12 h .with the PROC knob.
Perhaps I'm hunting ghosts but I would expect that I could over modulate the
radio..by wrongly adjusting the mic gain.
On the TS850 I could adjust the mic gain in such way that the ALC bar went
to the max, causing distortion, but I could manipulate that reading by
subdue my voice.
I would expect the mic gain on the FT1000mp give me the possibility to speak
with a low volume and still getting a reasonable average output .
