You may have a bad serial port on the Yaesu.  Be sure it works OK.  This is
one of the first to go in a power surge/near lightening pulse, just like the
modems in computers.  Try the Yaesu with different software and/or
connection cable to check for  operation.  The old rule of  "Ockham's razor"
says it's probably a setting in the software, but be sure everything else
works.
