Actually it's easier than that if you set up your contest software so that
your MP is SO2V.  It works good on CW but great in RTTY contests.  You can
actually turn with both hands, like 2 radios, and a keystroke puts you on
the VFO you want to TX.  I even wear headphones with audio set low when
tuning RTTY. I haveVFO A is in my left ear and VFO B is in my right ear.
It's an additional indicator of which VFO the signal's on.  Contest RTTY on
one VFO is rather slow and boring.  2 VFOs picks up the pace a bit.  BTW the
Pro III cannot do this!
