[1000mp] Field in CW

Hello, Perry:

Yes, I have found the same thing. I have an INRAD 500 Hz filter (721-C)
which I first put in the 3d IF of the main receiver. The clicks/thumps
were quite loud. So I replaced it with the Yaesu YF-116C, and the nasty
noises have been reduced by quite a lot. Not entirely gone, as I noted,
but not objectionable either. With the 721-C in place they were
definitely objectionable. I now have the 721-C in the sub-receiver.

This experience has made me wary of adding any more INRADs. I'm leaning
toward buying the Yaesu 250 Hz filters rather than run the risk of
buying INRAD filters and screwing things up again. I know the
conventional wisdom is that the INRADs have sharper skirts and thus
provide better selectivity, etc., but for me the price is too high.

Any thoughts?

73,
John, W3ULS
