Hello Everyone,
First I want to say thank-you to all the guys who
responded to my letter about my PTT circuit problem with my
FT1000MP. I received over a dozen replies from you guys with
various solutions to my problem and I am happy to let you all
know that I managed to fix the problem and I am now active
on FSK RTTY!! My next project is to learn more about the MMTTY
program I am using as I dabbled in the BARTG on the weekend and
ran into a few situations that had me scratching my head, but I
think it was due to lack of experience as well as not knowing the
program well enough. The solution to my PTT problem was to get
rid of the opto-isolator circuit I was trying to use and implement
the basic 1K resistor(from RTS pin of comport) into the base of a 2n2222
transistor with the collector going to the PTT pin on the RTTY Jack
on the back of the 1000MP. I had a number of guys who vouched for this
circuit and it worked perfectly the first time I hit the TX button
and every time after!! Once I learn the program better, I hope I get
the chance to meet up with some of you guys on the air!
Thanks again...this is a great reflector group.
