Steve, congratulations on the new rig. Probably one of the first things
you'll want to do is put in the Inrad Roofing filter. I have that, and the
3rd IF 500 hz cw filter as my only 2 changes so far.And they seem to me to
make a new rig out of the MP on CW. You just barley qsy, and that loud guy
next to you disappears.
I don't have any extra SSB filters in, but that may come someday. I had an
original MP I bought used that was loaded with filters, but I rarely used
the SSB filters. The SSB filters may be a nice thing to have for SSB
contests, but my voice has been messed up for the last couple of years, so I
don't really know for sure. I'll give it a go in the SSB contest this
weekend and may discover I should buy the SSB filters before the 250hz for
CW. The orginal MP had 2.0 khz Inrad filters in it and was loaded with
filters. Unfortunately, my 14 year old Dodge died, so I needed the money for
a new car. I think I have had this "Field" for about 4 months now.
I didn't know anyone still had the Mark V Field in stock. I thought they
were discontinued and the stores were all out of them.Anyway, I think you
made a great choice and will really enjoy your new rig. I'm going to be
watching on what the more experienced MP owners have done, filter wise.
73, Mike K9MI
