The chip comes in a variety of packages.

The 1000MP uses the CWE because of the SMT configuration of

the board it is installed on.

If you are going to replace this chip my best suggestion is to

use a tiny pair of dikes, flush-cut variety, and cut all the leads

from the old chip, then remove the old chip.

Then use a sharp soldering pencil and a tweezers and lift the stubs

from the PCBd pads as you heat them. Clean solder bridges now

as it will be impossible after chip placement.

Turn the new chip on its back and carefully tin all the leads.

Turn it back over and let it sit on a piece of glass. Check to see all

the leads are touching the glass.

Put a small drop of glue (not RTV) on the bottom, enough for the chip

to be held.

Carefully line up the lands, all the lands.

Let the glue dry over night.

Solder the leads to the lands. Be quick about it.

Clean and tin the iron every time.
