So, until you do.... The W2IHY does much more than compression. Between
the special affects, equalizer and the downward expander.. Wow, you can pin
point your audio to blow out many of the more expensive audio amplifiers.
It gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, "you pay for what you get." I
agree that the compressor in the Field or D is excellent-- however; add the
dynamics of the EQPlus... Wow... Trust me YOU WILL hear the difference.

i think the pr40 is way overkill for ssb. a mic that is almost 18Khz
wide for a 3khz wide Field (at the widest using the dsp)? let's start
doing some thinking. can you even hear any sounds above 6KHz let alone
voice any? I think any vocal dynamic mic like a Shure sm58 would be
good enough.
the compressor in the Field and D is excellent---no need for the IHY
compressor.
disclosure: i've never owned a pr40; never used one.
