     Yes you think they would have placed the sidetone control either in the 
menu or better yet on the front panel.
     I do not expect anything great to come of the ft2000 since it is going
to be dsp. DSP cannot compete with good crystal filters. The Icom 7800 dsp 
bandwidths in some cases are twice the bandwidth versus the crystal filters! 
The manufacturers have created this hype about dsp and really confused the 
"public", not us knowledgeable ones who realize this is a very inexpensive 
way to cut costs by inserting software instead of crystals!
Looking forward to seeing the specs on the 2000 like you are.
