John,
The only way to lower the transmit audio (as you call it is) to adjust the
sidetone. The sidetone is a constant level that does not change with the
volume control. You have to strike a balance between the level through the
speaker and the level through the headphones. You also have to take into
account bank noise level. It'd be great if the had an easily accessible
sidetone volume control but I don't think they're going to change this rig
any time soon. Do you? We'll just have to see when the 2000 comes out.
