Hello Bob,

It depends what kind of communication you are using; rag-chewing, DX, 
contests, pile-ups, etc.

I did replace the standard Yaesu filters with two Inrad 2800 filters and 
IMHO it is a significant difference. Not only for the RX, but for the TX 
too! Your TX audio quality will improve with the 8.2 MHz 2800 Hz IF-filter.

In my Field I use these filters in combination with two 2100 Hz IF-filters.

You can install the two Yaesu 2400 Hz filters in the position of the two 
optional SSB-filters.
Then you will get this bandwidth: NOR = 6 kHz, NAR1 = 2.8 kHz, NAR2 = 
2.4 kHz.
This is particularly interesting for rag-chewing.
