[1000mp] Carrying FT1000MP

Hi,
Looks like I will be traveling a lot with my (original)FT1000MP soon.
I will need to change at least 3 planes to reach final destination.
Anybody has experience or can give a good advise on how to carry FT1000MP
without having it broken upon arrival? I was thinking about putting it as a
check-in luggage in the original double box. I doubt that I will be allowed
to keep it with me in the plane as carry-on baggage - too heavy.
Any INFO would be greatly appreciated.
