Hello Adam;
Thanks for your input. I agree that it would be a nice insurance to have the 
alc hookup working the way it was intended, but my efforts have not been 
productive. I have done my homework and thought I'd ask the experienced 
folks for ideas. Even the manual (yaesu) indicates conditions under which 
the alc might better  not be used, so I will keep my figures and research as 
to PO for 600 watts out  and 800 watts out  and press on cautiously but not 
concerned to the point of worrying all the time and negatively influencing 
the ham experience,  hi hi. Thanks much again and Happy Holidays.
