Hi Anthony;
Thanks for the input. I too have disconnected the alc. I have done all the 
homework and still believe the hookup would be an insurance against 
accidental overload from the exciter to the amp. But I will set it, I know 
how much I need (35 watts for 600 watts and 50 for 800) and then I'll be 
observant to see no radical change in PO during my transmissions via the 
amplifier. Maybe some day, but I will not be overly concerned about spikes 
and will exercise caution. Thanks much and Happy Holidays Anthony.
