Hi Ron,
I don't know if this has any effect but when you adjusted the sensitivity on
40m did you have the rig in tuned input? I'd think it should be off (VRF
off) in setting sensitivity, also for the comparison to VFO B on 40m. The
sub-receiver is not affected by the VRF.

Subject: [1000mp] Sensitivity weirdness
I was working a bit in the 10 meter contest today. I was using a makeshift
antenna. I had the unusual experience of people that I could barely hear,
hearing me.
I dug out my Elecraft XG1 signal source and checked main and sub on 10
meters by listening to the harmonic of the 50 microvolt 40 meter signal on
28.160. Main receiver was audible at S1 and sub receiver was almost S5.
When I installed the roofing filter, I tested and set sensitivity on 40, so
I tuned both receivers to 7.040. Main was S9 (because I adjusted the gain so
that it was that level when I finished the roofing filter install} and the
sub was about s8.5.
What do I need to do to increase the gain on the main receiver on 10?
Ron
