[1000mp] Low Audio with EDSP

Doug the problem is most likely in the DSP system which is made up of two
boards. One handles the analog signals and probably the conversions to and
from Digital and the other is the actual DSP processor. I've had problems
with mine after a transmit keydown with it doing anything from going to full
volume white noise to passing no signal at all. Only way to restore it to
normal is to power the radio off and than back on and it's good until the
next keydown or three. (it's random) I have tried some RF isolation
techniques on the wiring going into the DSP module and it has made no
difference. The cost of the parts from Yaesu is around $500 to replace both
boards. I plan to put the thing on the bench at some point to try to
isolate the problem to one board or the other and replace only that board.
May even consider repair if it's the Analog portion of the DSP system.

For now I just don't use the DSP system unless I am just listening to a QSO
or some SW broadcast station while working at the work bench.

Yours may be a little different since you are having low audio all the time
with it switched in...maybe a signal routing problem. I'd be on the bench
with it using a scope to look at the receive signal paths through the
thing....

Also through the setups you can select whether you want to use conventional
analog detectors or DSP detection....have you switched between those? You
still have DSP functionality while using standard Analog detection
methods...

Hope that gets the signal to noise radio on your question up a bit....
