[1000mp] MAX232 replacement.... not a big deal.

Use a USB-serial converter.  I took a lightning hit last week (TV 
cable).  The MP which was plugged directly into the PC serial port had 
its CAT damaged.  My other MP which is controlled with a Microkeyer 
(USB) was unharmed.  Perhaps it's coincidental, but every other 
parameter was the same between the two rigs (same AC circuit, ground, 
etc.)
