[1000mp] New to the list and INRAD question

Rick:
I don't have any pictures, but instead of pushing the +5V and ground pin thru the Mark V printed circuit board, I would use a 2" long twisted pair (red and black) such as 28 to 32 gauge.
Before installing the roofing filter, solder the twisted pair to the header pads (not thru the holes) on the Mark V printed circuit board. You'll note the connector header is not installed. Be sure to note which pad is ground, and which is +5 VDC. Next, install the roofing filter and secure the nylon nuts. Then push the pins thru the top of the roofing filter power connector (rather than thru the bottom) in the ground and +5V header receptacles. Last, solder the twisted pair to the pins that are now pressed into the top of the header connector on the roofing filter. Again, note which is +5 VDC, and which is ground.
That makes the install much easier. You avoid the heat and time of pressing those pins through the MK V board. This is not an issue with MPs because the power header is already installed, whereas it is de-populated from the MK V.

Gentlemen, how hard or easy is it to install the roofing filter. I heard horrible stories on installing the roofing filter. I intend to install one on my mark v.

operate at K8AZ a lot and Tom has added the roofing filter in all his MP's.
The difference is amazing. I bought a roofing filter and will have it
installed in my radio before contest season really gets going. A very
worthwhile addition especially under heavy band condx and REALLY helps the
radio on SSB as well as CW.

I am new to this list as I just bought a used FT1000MP today. Hope it will
be delivered friday so I have the weekend to play with it, and am really
looking forward to it. It looks like a top of the line HF rig.
Does the INRAD roofing filter really increase the receive performance of
this rig? The reviews I have read from QST and Radcomm seem to indicate so,
but would like to hear some actual experiences with it.
