Solution: Every radio settings  are going to be different. However the 
setting on 9-1 has a huge impact on weak  signal readability. If you set it too high 
you wont hear the weak stations and  too low and you will not hear them 
either. Here's what I did. I found the  weakest station I could find (should be 
S-0) and I slowly went up and down with  menu 9-1. I believe your original 
setting was 12, then I would slowly adjust  between 7 and 11 and listen to see when 
you can understand the weak station the  best (close your eyes while doing 
this and ignore the S meter). And don't set  the IF gain so that main receiver 
matches the sub receiver S meters, remember we  are not calibrating S meters, we 
are looking for best weak signal reception in  the main receiver. 73 Douglas
