Use a hair dryer to heat the shaft and penetrating oil. I have use this
technique on Yaesu transceivers before. Do not use allot of oil. Apply heat
and rotate shaft - grit will cause the binding.
Good Luck

Subject: [1000mp] Frozen main VFO knob

The main tuning knob of my 1000MP has abruptly frozen up. It worked fine
yesterday, but this am it felt as if it was binding and it took more torque
to turn the knob. After about 5 minutes of use it became much more
difficult to turn. I removed the knob and removed the "shaft tension
spring" completely as outline on page 102 of the manual but the shaft is
still very difficult to turn.

Anyone in the group had this problem, or any thoughts of things to check
before I crack the case and get in over my head.

Thanks in advance, Bruce N6RB
