[1000mp] Maybe dumb questions ?

Hi Dick!

Congrats on the 'Field - I've had my MkV for close to a year now and it is a super radio. It does have a learning curve tho...

> Q1; How reliable/accurate is the SWR meter ?

I'm not sure how accurate it is, but I have found it to be pretty sensitive, particularly to stray RF problems. Maybe my FT990 was
just more forgiving, but the MkV definitely reads higher than my '990 did.

I wonder the same. I have several beams that are fairly flat, and I have two antennas (an 80m loop and the phone portion of a 40m
beam) where I need to use the tuner. With the tuner engaged on the other, flat beams, I get higher SWR than without. Again, the '990
never did, but I wonder if it is realted to Q1 at all?

My fan runs a lot more than I would expect but I attributed it to the 200W. You don't have that power level to point to so I'm not
sure. I always figured it was better to err on the side of running the fan than not. This may sound goofy, but I kinda like the
smell the shack takes on when the fan has been running for a while!

GL and enjoy the radio.
