[1000mp] Maybe dumb questions ?

I have had my MARK-5 Field for six weeks and still in the learning curve. I
have a couple of questions that may seem trivial, but I just need some
confirmation.
Set Up: Mark-5 Field
         RigBlaster Plus Interface
NO amp or outboard tuner at this time.
Antennas: Mosley 4 ele. Yagi - 6 band grnd mtd Vertical and G5RV.

Q1; How reliable/accurate is the SWR meter ?
Q2: How well does the internal tuner do it's job ?
I ask this as I am finding that sometimes I get a higher SWR with the
tuner on than with it off when using the beam or
the vertical. Then again, they may be the same. Worries me.....
Q3: When working PSK31,(DigiPan 20 watts), or RTTY, (MMTTY 50 watts), the
cooling fan comes on about the 2nd or 3rd exchange.
On my Paragon I had a 4" fan blowing on the heat sink. The Mark-5 does
not have an exposed heat sink. Is this normal
for the fan to come on during a rag chew ( I try to not TX too long)?
Do I need my fan and if so, where do I point it
to help with the cooling or do I need some other extra cooling set up ?

All comments appreciated, either direct or via this reflector.
