But you can receive on 2 different bands at the same time- a major drawback
IMHO of the MP series.

... the "completely independent second receiver" is nearly
impossible to use without a rather complex antenna switching
system or significant modifications to the radio.  Further,
it is muted when the FT-1000D is transmitting which reduces
its usefulness to a level equivalent to any of the other
"dual receiver" rigs.
