[1000mp] beginner's problem

Here's a scenario that I think would give the same result. I don't have my 
MP anymore due to my 14 year old car dying on me, and I had to buy a new 
car, and the MP had to go. Yes, I'm still crying about that one. Could it 
possibly be that
Richard is in the CW mode, and has one of the CW filters selected, but it's 
not there? And he would have to go to the SSB filter to hear anything if 
there were no cw filters?
