HI, Duncan et al,
I have been very interested in this project [CDG2000] since it first
appeared. In fact, it is why I joined the RSGB, so I could get RadCom and
thereby the project articles. I have kept my membership since the series
finished because of the regular column "Technical Topics" by Pat Hawker,
G3VA, which is the only radio column in any magazine I rush to read each
month when it arrives. Pat's column is consistently superb in its subject
matter and his treatment of it. As long as Pat keeps writing, I will
continue to belong to the RSGB ;)
It is too bad no one has seen fit to do a 'kitting' of the CDG2000 such as
was done over here with the DSP-10, another project with a similarly
daunting procurement profile.
I have been put off from building the CDG2000 because of the nightmare of
parts procurement.
But if some one or some organization put together a kit as was first done
privately and then by TAPR for the DSP-10, I would leap at the chance to
build and own a CDG2000. I know that the boards and some 'hard-to-find'
parts are available, but those items only scratch the surface of what is
needed to build the CDG2000.
Maybe you can convince one of the principals of the project, or the RSGB,
or another interested party to do a complete kitting of the CDG2000.
If so, let me know!
