Hi from Steve G0UIH. I posted an article on this problem about 18 months on this reflector and unfortunatly had no replies.Since this time it is apparent that many owners of the MP suffer from audio in speaker on TX.I have of course made sure the "Moni" is off and all leads have been well ferrited including the Mic and DC lead. Even running into a dummy load had no effect in reducing it.
I have recently for info taken the rig to an authorised UK Yaesu service center and they confirm the rig has a problem and it's quite widespread and also occurs in the MP Field (not sure abt the Mk5).
As I understand it the RF is picked up around the low-pass filter around the regulator board and then gets into the audio stage. The severity differs between radios, but mine is now very bad.
My freind at the service center says Yaesu are aware of the problem, but no one has offered any cure.A freind tried to operate it on CW a few weeks ago and said the rig was unusable because of the thumps and crashes caused by this breakthrough.
I have seen other comments on this subject over the last 18 months or so, but wonder if anyone else sufferes from this or knows of a mod that will correct it, as i'm ready to ditch my otherwise good radio as its sending me mad now!
My only other hope is to install somekind of relay switching that cuts the audio off to the speaker on tx (but then I will loose the sidetone etc - rather defeats the object)
Even the trusty VA3CR site seems to lack any info.
Very 73 Steve G0UIH
