In a mode such as this your running a 100% RF duty cycle power output just like running AM modulation. With SSB there is no power out when your not talking and the output power is not a constant thing even when talking only at times do you reach full power. SSB is probably a 25% RF duty cycle mode.
Have you had ever seen a RF transistor apart and noticed the small leads in such a device. I use PSK a lot and I run 25-35 watts with my MP. Good Luck.
