When I was running Icom PRO gear, I always used the amp keyer to play it
safe even with Icom amps. 40.00 is a lot cheaper than having a rig sent off
for repair that will not be covered by warr.

The internal FT-1000MP linear keying circuitry is pretty fragile and a
buffer interface of some sort is needed. Another source for a commercial
linear buffer interface is the Ameritron ARB-704 with the PNP-8D patch
