[1000mp] Mark V Versus Mark V Field

I guess it's a personal preference. I would go for the MARK V 200 watt
version since they are so close in price. If buying used, one made in the
year 2001 and later should be safe.
I have several rigs here and one is a 200 watt Mark V. I have found I can
run it barefoot with just the 200 watts getting through nicely on 75 and 40
meters which can have a high noise level. I can also run my 100 watt rigs on
75 and 40 meters and even though the output is 3bd different than the 200
watt Mark V I can often still be heard but many times I have noted it's just
not enough power where the 200 watt radio seems to be just enough to get
through and if you don't run an Amp this may be another reason to get the
200 watt version.
I am probably not in the majority but I wouldn't even consider the 100 watt
field version.
Off on another subject, Wow! The noise blanker mod and INRAD roofing filter
board are a really nice addition to this rig.

I own both the Field and the MKv...
I love them both
The field also will operate w/ 12v (for field day, mobile, emergencys....)
and has internal pwr supply and carry handl also...
The 200w is nice on the MKv
If you are buying used, the quality control on some of the eirlier MKv's
had
issues and the Field seemed to have worked out this matter
You cant go wrong with either...
