Kelly,
I have a Mark V not the Field so this may not apply. However, I had a
similar problem after taking to the covers off to install filters. The Mark
V sounded like it was going to take off when the fan kicked in. After
removing the top cover again I found one of the internal speaker wires
rubbing against the fan blades. Moved the wire away from the fan and all is
well. Hope your fix is this simple.

Subject: [1000mp] Mrk V Field Vibrating/Noisy fan
Hello all,
I did a little research and haven't seen this asked so here goes.
I have a Mark V Field which was recently sent in for some repairs. I opted
to send it back to the "point of purchase vendor" instead of Yaesu. While
I'm happy with the repairs, something I notice now is that the cooling fan
seems to vibrate much more (I can actually feel it in the desk) and be a
noticeably noisier than it was prior to the repair - almost as if it's out
of balance.
Before cracking the covers off I was wondering if anybody might have
experienced this before or have an idea or what to look for.
Thanks,
Kelly - N0VD
