[1000mp] audio filters for the Mark V

Dear John:
With the many buttons, switches, and knobs on the Mark V, it is easy
to overlook some and their functions. I do not have the face of a Mark
V right in front of me, so my description may be off a little.
To the left of the main tuning knob (the large, central knob) about
half way to the left edge of the radio, one will find vertical banks of
push buttons (and associated LEDs) that are all enclosed within a
cartouche (well, I think that is the technical word for it). What I am
describing is an almost square, drawn-on-the-face-of-the-radio, closed
line that surrounds the aforementioned push buttons.
The vertical column of buttons on the left side of the "box" mostly
control AF band pass filters that mostly have utility with digital modes
such as CW. The four buttons in a vertical column on the right side of
the "box" control a low pass filter, a high pass filter, a bandpass
filter, and the bottom button turns off the filters.
Somewhere in this mix of buttons is a column labeled with single
letters. These buttons supposedly invoke some DSP.

I suggest trying the low pass filter. If it does not help, then,
whatever the objectionable sound you are hearing is, it is getting into
the audio line farther along the audio path.

    Good luck. 73 Mac N8TT
