[1000mp] sticking relay problem

My relay problem (yes, it WAS a relay problem) was with one of the bandpass
relays. The problem started about 6 months after I put in place a 5-band
scanning PACTOR MBO.  Think of it:  hitting the equivalent of a band button
once every 15 seconds for 6 months!  I never gave a thought to the wear and
tear on the rig. After all, it's a solid-state rig, right?  In my case one
of the little bandpass relays had bit the dust.  There are a surprising
number of relays in the MP.

Now and then I also see it on another band, but it is transient, and using
the rig more, such as in a contest, appears to help.

Intermittent problems are a bear to repair remotely. With all the jiggling
in the shipment process, it's no wonder Burkhardt, et. al., claim never to
have seen a relay problem. The relays probably have never seen so much
side-to-side G forces ;-).  Kind of an "autoclean" operation during the
shipment.

I liked your idea of tapping the relays. First form a hypothesis as to which
relay (single band problem or all bands, etc), and then go ever so gently
tapping.. reminds me of an Edgar Allen Poe story!
