I'll bet Ten-Tec and Icom hope it's vaporware.
It makes sense that the amateur equipment manufacturers would bring out new
HF gear now, with the influx of no-code HF operators throughout Europe and
much of the rest of the world. Companies respond to demand and when the
no-code Tech license was introduced here in the U.S., it seemed like the big
three were introducing a new VHF/UHF rig every year. (Check early to mid
90's ARRL product reviews of VHF/UHF gear if your memory isn't as good as
mine.)
People have been chattering about the new top of the line HF rigs from
Kenwood and Yaesu for years, so I doubt this is vaporware. Manufacturers
make bucketloads of money on "competition grade" HF rigs, much the same way
auto makers clean up on luxury cars, so I'd think that both Kenwood and
Yaesu would want to get in on the fun, along with Icom and Ten-Tec. We'll
just have to see what materializes.
Dayton should be fun this year, too bad I can't make it.
