I have an Inrad 400 hz. CW filter, and the Yaesu SSB 2.0 filters - I
considered Inrad for the SSB, but after reading W8ZR's review of the Mark V,
decided to use Inrad's for CW only. Here is what he said:
Be sure and check with Yaesu before using INRAD filters with non-standard
SSB bandwidths, non-standard filters might confuse the IDBT synchronization
with the DSP. This won't be a problem with CW filters, since the IDBT isn't
activated on CW.
It sounds like there haven't been any problems though, as it is very common
for people to use Inrad's for SSB.
I certainly agree with DL6KAC's statement about getting filters for both
IFs. I had used the stock CW filter for about a year, and found the CW
performance unimpressive, particularly compared with my R-4C, with Sherwood
600 hz. 1st IF filter (coupled with a 500 hz second IF, I've never actually
used the 250 hz 2nd IF). But when I added the Inrad 400 hz. (from the New
Year's sale), I found that it makes a significant difference - the
performance is now much closer to the R-4C. Tom W6EIJ
