Hi,
This has really discussed a zillion times. I asked the same question about
1.5 years ago :)
I got the following (INRAD)
2 x 1,8 KHz for main rx
2 x 250 Hz for main rx
1 x 400 Hz for sub rx
250 Hz might be too narrow for all-day cw qsos but I like it narrow.
Depends on your habits. If you are into contesting 2 x 250 Hz are a must.
Some people prefer to use 125 Hz but you will miss
"out-of-bandwidth-callers". Therfore I think 250 Hz is a good compromise.
400 Hz for the sub is a nice helper in a pile-up. Helps you to sort out the
pile up faster.
1,8 Khz might be a little narrow for rag-chewing but in some situations it
is really helpful. For contesting 1.8 KHz are a must.
I think there is no need to buy a 2.1 Khz filter because it would not help
much. BECAUSE: If you have qrm then a significant reduction in bandwidth is
usually necessary. This can easily achieved by the 1.8 Khz compared to the
2.4 Khz.
Always get the filters for both IFs so that you can take full advantage of
shift/width control.
HTH.
