[1000mp] FTV1000 Problem

Just bought an FTV1000 and it doesn't seem to want to transmit. RX
works. Band data to FTV1000 TX gnd shorts when MK5 is in transmit. TRV
puts out up to 100mV peak 28MHz when MK5 is in TX and the FTV1000 is
turned on (otherwise there is no output which proves that some
additional handshaking is working). FTV1000 puts out nothing but a relay
does click internally (in FTV1000) when MK5 is put into transmit. Also
noted that TX gnd on band data only works when LIN sw on back of MK5 is
in off position. This is really a pain because I use the TX gnd on HF
and the back of my MK5 is not easily reached. Is there some secret about
how the FTV1000 works that I am not privy to? Help!
