Bought my Field in March at the dealer in De. I had done my
research and knew it was the rig I wanted. Literally they
spent 2 hrs trying to convince me to go with a PRO II. I
like to learn so I listened and got a nice intro to the rig
firsthand. In the end they were visibly pissed when I said
"that's nice but I'll take the Field." Didn't even offer to
hold the door for me to get out with that huge box. The
change in attitude was quite something to see. Oh I almost
forgot this. As he is trying to steer me away from Yaesu
the salesman says "All the Hispanic guys buy Yaesu. They
seem to like the big rigs." So I guess what I was supposed
to take from that is I didn't want to be like a Hispanic guy.
I was shaking my head all the way home. I'm still amazed.

In the end I felt the salesman was trying way too hard to 
switch me to the Icom. Initially I figured they made a 
greater profit on it but who knows?

Since Icom seems to have turned out a bucket load of Pro II's
with defective transmitters that fail without warning, the dealers might
have an ulterior motive in misleading you, since I'm sure Pro IIs are
selling about as fast as steaks at a vegan festival.
