You need to run with a different crowd and find a better dealer. Yaesu calls
the EDSP in the MP and Mark V series rigs IF DSP, but since it's outside the
AGC loop, it doesn't act like IF DSP. IF DSP means that the DSP decodes at
an IF stage vs. an audio stage in the receiver.
The Kenwood TS-870 and TS-2000; Ten Tec Jupiter and Orion and Icom
IC-756Pro/Pro II all have "true" IF DSP. In fact, the 870 was the first
amateur rig to offer IF DSP. I don't know what sales people you've been
talking to, but they should know this. If they don't, you shouldn't deal
with them. Since Icom seems to have turned out a bucket load of Pro II's
with defective transmitters that fail without warning, the dealers might
have an ulterior motive in misleading you, since I'm sure Pro IIs are
selling about as fast as steaks at a vegan festival.
