[1000mp] Mark V Field: AGC Getting Swamped

Recently acquired a virtually new Mark V Field. Have been an Icom user for many years and finding the learning some of the Yaesu protocols a bit different than Icom...but that will be overcome in time.

My real challenge right now is what seems to be the AGC getting swamped by relatively strong signals (S 9) around 5 Kcs away. I could understand this happening if the "offending" station were maybe 2 or 3 Kc, but not 5. The AGC gets pumped to the point that the receiver becomes desensed.

Have played around with some of the QRM tools..VRF, IDBT, adjusted the AGC to fast, etc. All seem to help a little bit...but not enough.

With my Icom 756 Pro sitting side by side with the MK V Field and using the same antenna, several and repeated A/B tests indicate the Icom is NOT suffering the same experience.

Any suggestions?

Read in the reflector archives about a pending INRAD roofing filter to help with close in IMD. Is this the solution?

thanks,

Harry WE1X
