Just had the identical problem, (mine was 7.5 to 14.5 Mhz.) Same behavior.
Problem turned out to be in the TCO unit - had to be shipped to YAESU where
they
did a solid repair, but it was not the normal easy 'give it to a friend'
repair.
Rigs back, (after eight great years of use,) and is in top shape again.
