I am considering wiring the DSV-2 input and output for use with the sound
card input and output for digital operations such as MT63, HELL, PSK and
MFSK.
I now use the packet input for three of the above but my vintage FT1000MP
will not allow me PKT operation on USB, since MT63 is sideband dependent if
I want to operate that mode I have to use USB. I have tried the patch input
and it appears to work OK, however I hear a hum using the patch input and
yes the microphone is disconnected. I first thought it was a ground loop
problem but I installed isolation lines and they did not help.
So I have seen several circuit that utilize the DSV input and output on the
accessory socket and have had several other ham recommend that port as a low
level input and out put which I understand is similar to the PKT low level
out-in which has worked very successfully for me.
What I can not determine or find the answer to is what is the specific
functions of the control #1 and control#2 on the DSV jack. I believe one is
for muting the microphone and patch input while using the audio in pin and
the other is used to control and direct low level output to the AF out pin.
Which one ? Also most circuits for an external interface use the RTS pin on
a RS232 port, if I am not mistaken that pin has two states, -12V and +12v
DC. What I am not sure of is the actual control voltage if any need to
switch the control pins on the FT1000MP, it may be just a ground connection
and using a 2n2222 or similar device could via the 232 RTS control there
functions.
I have searched the WEB trying to get the necessary information but have not
determined the correct answers to the above. Can anyone direct me to the
correct functions and voltage or lack of voltage to utilize this accessory
jack?
Appreciate the help.
