This apparently is a common problem with the MP, MK V and Field and has
been discussed many times on this list.  Obviously it's a relay.  Another
way to bring the audio back is to press the front panel antenna switches
(select ANT B, then back to ANT A).

My 1998 vintage MP did this intermittently when it was new and problem
gradually went away.  I have not been bothered by the problem for several
years now.
