I find that the APF softens the sound of CW, such that with some signals, it
is too indistinct, making reading the code difficult. With others, it is
very helpful. The hard sounding, almost key-clickey CW signals (unmodified
MPs?) work the best. Sometimes, the digital selection of the APF filter
helps a bit.

Here, I find that the settings that work best with a speaker, are different
from those with headphones. With speaker, usually A or B, and with phones,
C or D. Yeasu seems to imply that these each represent a different formula,
or algorythm (?) not aggressiveness, but I think a higher letter is more
aggressive. What I find is that the DSP system is unable to get rid of
background noise - outboard DSP units do much better. But, for what it
does, the on-board system works in most of the cases. It is still pretty
formitable, particularly for the price. Tom W6EIJ
