I remember reading in the manual or an errata that
the internal tuner will not reliably tune a Windom
antenna. Anyone else remember reading this?

Subject: [1000mp] Q: Antenna Tuner, FT-1000MP Mark
V Field
FT-1000MP Mark V Field
I use a Windom antenna for 40 -10 m.
Acc. to specification it is not usable for 15m.
When I try to tune the antenna with the installed
antenna tuner, the result is HiSWR and the
transmitter
is shut down.
pwr adjustment is max. 100 watt.
With this adjustment its not possible to bring
the antenna at
15m to a acceptable swr.
But when I adjust the pwr adjustment at the front
panel
to about 20 watts, the tuner works and bring the
antenna to
a good swr, 1,2 : 1.
When I now adjust the pwr adjustment at the front
panel
to max. output 100 watt, the swr keeps the same
value as
with 20 watts.
Question:
Why can the tuner not tune the antenne at max. pwr
adjustment
at the front panel ?
Is the procedure to tune the antenna with the low
pwr adjustment
and after tuning to got to 100 watts ok ?
At all other bands, were the antenna is in
specified range, the
tuner works very well at the max. pwr adjustment.
Thanks for helping!
