I purchased a brand new Mark V a few days ago so I have
been running tests on it using on the air checks as well as using
my FT-920 for back to back keying tests. =20

All of the on air CW Qso were at least 10db over nine.=20
and I had them all tune my sidebands up and down=20
looking for key clix. None of them reported anything=20
objectionable about the keying and only one said he could
he some sign of clixs out to 500hz. On that basis you=20
you would determine that Yaesu has cleaned up the key=20
clix somewhat on the Mark V. =20

So then I did back to back tests into a dummy load first=20
sending with 920 and then sending with the Mark V. The 920 was=20
clean of any key clix. But I did detect minor clix out of the=20
Mark V out to 1khz. =20

So the new Mark V are not the old 3khz wide clix as the=20
original Mark V put out. Yaesu has attempted to clean it=20
up. There were several other posts on here indicating the same
thing. That the new production Mark V has vastly improved keying.=20
and installing the mod only improves it just slightly. =20

I do plan on installing the mod and I'll post another update in a few=20
months when I have made more tests. =20
