I had a friend who had a stock 1000mp and this guy is one hell of a CW operator.  He is a machine and pull calls out of very weak heard stations.  Yup he is a contestor and dx chaser.  He had a stock 1000mp and made those having all the filters installed look sick.  His magic, he had great operating skills and a nice antenna set-up.  You can't buy that in accessories.  The new generation want "THE MAGIC"  that cutting edge to make up for poor skills.  
 
Not that anyone on this reflector has them but technology won't stop your butt from dying one day no matter how much you have. It may delay it for a while but the inevitable will occur.
