[1000mp] Roofing Filters

With respect, I would address this somewhat differently -- the 400 or 500
Hz filters are a "must" if you want to do CW contesting, at least in the
main receiver, but if, like many of us, you already have them in, then the
roofing filter is the next great "bang for the buck." What it does is to
bring the performance much closer to that of the Orion, for a lot less
money -- never mind the new Yaesu and Icom rigs...
If you're a sideband contester (which I am not, really) then I'm inclined
to think I would put in the roofing filter before I invested in narrower
SSB filters.
